Daggerhorn

Anna Lee --

I couldn't help but laugh, tumbling down with him as he went.
"Hey!"
I squirmed a little, moving away from out little pile in his doorway.


Katherine --

I smiled up at him, brushing my hair back with a faint smile.
"So it is..."
Hesitating a little I put my hand on the door, deciding what to say.
"If you come tomorrow, be sure to take me... alright? I doubt Aaron will stop working long enough to go."

Methias watched her for a moment before giving a small nod. "Of course, Miss Kathrine." He grinned and took a step back, waiting for her to go inside.

Thesus laughed and attempted to push himself up, only to stumble a bit. "I think I may have had one to many," he said with a bit of a groan, starting to fall forward again.

Katherine --

I smiled, pushing the door open and saying one more thing before slipping inside.
"And you know better than that... its just Katherine."
That said I let the door slip shut between us and snuck up to my room.

Anna Lee --

I squeaked, rolling out of the way in case he fell again. I couldn't help but laugh more though, trying to pull him back up as I stood.
"Just one?"

Methias watched her go inside, a soft smile on his lips before he turned and went back to his shop to finish his work.


Thesus fell against her her and chuckled. "Ok...maybe a few more than one," he relented. "I'm not drunk though," he said with a raised brow and a finger pointed at her. His eyes seemed to search her face for a long moment before his lips brushed very lightly against hers.

Anna Lee --

I froze, unsure for a moment of what I was supposed to do.

... what I wanted to do.

Then slowly I kissed him back, no harder than his lips had met mine. My eyes were wide and locked on him, trying to determine if that's what was how I was supposed to respond.

Thesus looked a little shocked that she'd returned the kiss, his eyes all of the sudden very sober. He watched her for a long moment before kissing her again, his lips pressed fully to hers though the kiss was gentle and sweet as his arms wrapped around her loosely. "I love you," he whispered to her, though he believed this all to be a dream.

Anna Lee --

I just kissed him back for a moment, lips feeling like they were meant to be pressed to his. Relaxing in his hold I couldn't help the blush that swept over my cheeks when he spoke.

"...I..."

I honestly didn't know what I felt. He was drunk though... surely it wouldn't hurt...

"I love you too."

Thesus smiled down at her, pulling her a bit closer as he kissed her again. It was just like in his dreams, the only difference was he was feeling more awake than ever, and she'd have to leave soon. See in his dreams she'd always come to his house and just...stayed...for things. In this dream, she'd helped him home which meant she'd have to leave, which he wasn't looking all that forward too, but wasn't about to try to convince her to stay.

Anna Lee --

I was surprised, meeting him for another kiss, happily leaning into it. Although I'd never really considered being able to marry him... I'd always known my father would choose the best paying man, it didn't mean I couldn't enjoy this moment. I wouldn't be the first to pull away.

Thesus continued to kiss her until a breeze blew through the open door and sent a chill down his spine. He pulled away just enough to look at the door then back at her, swallowing. "You should head home before it gets to cold," he murmured softly.

Anna Lee --

I nodded, staring at him with wide eyes.
"... I'll have breakfast ready for you tomorrow morning... like always." I told him at last. "I guess... I'll see you tomorrow?"

Thesus nodded, giving her another light kiss. "I'll be a little late, I have some business to take care of," he murmured, having forgotten he'd told her about the bartering for her.

Anna Lee --

I blushed a little, remembering what he had said only a short time ago. Kissing him back once again I sighed, glancing back at the road. I didn't want to leave but...

"I should head back to the tavern then. I'll see you when you show..."

Thesus gave another small nod and kissed her neck before letting her go and walking her to the door. He still was just a tad wobbly, but obviously was for the most part sober. "Be safe," he said as he watched her go.

Anna Lee --

"I will." she murmured in response, finally walking out and giving him one more look. Turning away she headed back into the tavern hoping that the customers hadn't gotten too roudy while she was away.

The next morning Toby was out of her tent bright and early, the morning having a slight chill to it as the mist from the night clung to the trees. She sighed and started a fire then began to prepare things for the people of the village, just as the rest of the camp was. By mid-morning, things had warmed significantly.


It wasn't until around mid-morning that Thesus came into the tavern, rubbing his face. He'd had a long talk with the herds' man that morning and had just barely gotten away. He took his spot at his usual table, lost in thought.


Methias did as he promised and was at Kathrine's door to take her to the gypsy camp.

Aaron --

When I woke in the morning I didn't hesitate before forsaking my work clothes in favor of a more relaxing outfit. Glancing out the door I paused, frowning a little. On our doorstep was one of those boys. Not bothering to hurry Katherine up I jogged down the steps and opened the door.

Hello Methias."


Anna Lee --

I barely noticed Thesus at first, busy informing a hung over man that my filling his tankard some more would not solve his headache. When my eyes did spot him I offered a quick smile, wrapping up the argument and heading over his way. Mother stopped me partway with a glare and a point to the kitchen. Her meaning was obvious, get his order and don't waste time talking. Nodding I moved over to him with a smile.

"How are you feeling?"

"Hello," Methias said with a smile. "How are you today Aaron?" He asked, acting as if it was perfectly normal that he was waiting for Kathrine.


Thesus looked up at Anna and gave a bit of a smile. "Like hell," he chuckled, running a hand through his hair. "Is your father around?"

Aaron --

I studied him for a moment, leaning on the doorway as I did.
"I am well." I replied, glancing over my shoulder to where Katherine stood at the top of the stairs. "Are you waiting for something?"
Or someone... I added in silently.

Katherine --

I couldn't help the flush that crept over my cheeks as I realized that Aaron had Methias holed up on the doorstep. Running back into my room I decided this would be a good time to work on my hair.

Anna Lee --

My eyes widened a bit as I recalled the conversation from last night. Would he really...
"Father is in the back room counting money. He's wanting to check and make sure there's no coves, some people are talking about problems with fake coin. I think its just rumors but..."
I shrugged a little, letting my eyes trail over the customers. You never know...

Thesus gave a small nod as he listened and rubbed his chin for a minute then stood. "I'm going to go talk to him...Ill have my breakfast when I get back." He smiled and stood, disappearing to the back room.


Methias gave a small nod, not seeming at all afraid. What was there to be afraid of if he was telling the truth? "Miss Kathrine...she asked that I take her to see the gypsies today if I wasn't busy with my work."

Aaron --

I frowned a little, scratching my head as I glanced back at the stairs, discovering that Katherine had vanished from the top.
"Well... if she asked you..."
"I did!"
Sighing a little I turned again to find Katherine standing where she had been before, a brush buried in her hair. Raising my brow a little I gestured towards her head.
"Is that a new style?"
She furrowed her brow then squeaked as she realizes what I was talking about and disappeared back into her room.
"I guess I could let you escort her, I had plans at the fair anyways."

Katherine --

I quickly finished brushing my hair and ran back out from my room, holding my skirts carefully in my hands.
"I'm not a baby," I groaned catching the tail end of his words. "I didn't need your permission."
"Yeeeah."
Rolling my eyes I jogged down the stairs and reached to grab Methias's hand and drag him away from the house.



Anna Lee --

I watched him leave before walking back into the kitchen. Putting together orders I managed to burn three meals before my mother chewed me out, informing me that I could just serve drinks and take orders until I was ready to pay attention. I just nodded and walked back out.

Methias had opened his mouth to say something, but was quickly pulled away by the hand. He cast a bit of a smile back at Aaron, but followed Katherine. "Excited?"


"You've got to help me convince him!" Thesus said, his eyes on Anna Lee's father. "I can provide more, I can offer more. You know I can. I'm the best option for your daughter!"

Anna Lee's father sighed, running a hand through his hair.
"You should have offered sooner if you wanted my daughter's hand," he began, turning his eyes from Thesus's face, instead towards his window. "I am a man of my word, Thesus. I won't back away from an agreement already made."



Katherine --

"Of course I am!" I squealed, dragging him with me. "It's not every day that you get to go to a gypsy camp!"
After a second though I jerked to a stop, blushing a little as I realized my mistake.
"... I don't know how to get there."



Aaron --

Chuckling I shut the door, heading back into the shop. I would need to finish just a couple more things before I could head out.

Methias chuckled and watched her until she came to a stop. He then shook his head, his bright eyes smiling down at her. "Don't worry, I do." With that he lead her in the opposite direction and down to the gypsy camp where dancers seemed to plague the place along with fire eaters and different venders trying to sell their goods.


Thesus growled and slammed his fist onto the desk. "There must be a way! You know I have not been in town until recently."

"There isn't!" he growled in return, pushing away from the desk with is hands. "And if you're going to act this way I will have to ask you to leave. As it is I'm tempted to request that anyways, I don't want you influencing my Anna about this. She will be wed, but not to you. That is my final word on the matter."


Katherine --

I couldn't decide where exactly to look first, hurrying from here to there, vendor to dancer. There was just so much. After awhile I just turned to look at Methias with wide eyes.
